Around the City…

Square City University

Established in 1937, SCU has been at the forefront of higher education in the state. At that time the small university comprised of only three faculties; Law, Science and History. Throughout the decades SCU has expanded dramatically and is now one of the biggest universities in the state. Its faculty of Mythological studies is also one of the largest in the country.
A large, bronze sculpture of its two founders stand at the main entrance of the central campus, but their names have been lost to time.
Recently the University has decided to alter its famous Coat of Arms emblem, incorporating a mixture of both modern and traditional styles.

Square City University Black Lions

SCU’s leading football team, the Black Lions, started off in 1950. They dominated state college football, ranking at #1 from 1956 until 1962. They have since won the State College Football Championship five times; in 1970, 1981, 1999, 2001 and 2013.

Mimi’s Deli

Mimi Tachikawa, a famous Japanese pastry chef, established her first delicatessen a few years ago just outside the hub of Square City. It’s sweet treats, delectable pastries and mouthwatering sandwiches have made the deli a favorite spot amongst both locals and tourists.
